TONZU Shepherds Pie

A hearty family favourite – Our TONZU take on Shepherd’s Pie gives you a nutritious delicious belly-warming meal – Made with TONZU Mince as a healthy meat-alternative.

  • 1 packet of TONZU Mince
  • 2-3 large potatoes
  • 2-3 onions
  • Peas or corn
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons tamari
  • 1/2 cup of water


  • Clean, boil strain and mash your potatoes – mix in a little tamari with the potatoes instead of butter for a healthier pie! Set aside.
  • Gently fry onions in a pan until transparent (you can also add a clove or two of garlic if you want).
  • Then add mince and tamari and cook for a few minutes.
  • In a small cup, slowly add the cold water to the flour, stirring continuously until you have a nice smooth paste.
  • Remove the mince onions and tamari from the heat and add the flour paste. Put back on the heat, add the peas/corn and allow to cook for a minute or two and thicken.
  • Pour this mixture into a pie dish and spread the mashed potato on top.
  • Bake in the oven on 200°C until the potato begins to brown nicely.
  • You can sprinkle on top at any stage a topping of your choice (sesame seeds, grated cheese, sunflower seeds or just leave as is.

To Serve

Serve with warm vegetables of your choice and eat with plenty of homemade tomato sauce.
